Dry & brittle nails
Did you know that being fair-skinned makes you more prone to thin and weak nails? As we get older our nails dry out and require more moisture and maintenance to remain healthy and strong. Constant washing up, exposure to chemicals such as nail polish and nail polish remover, and being dehydrated can all lead to our nails becoming dry, brittle and breaking easily.
Symptoms of dry and brittle nails:
- Nails that easily break or split
- Peeling nails, where layers separate, leaving them thin and fragile
- A rough texture on the nail surface, feeling uneven, rough, or ridged
- Discoloration, with nails appearing dull, losing their natural shine, or developing a yellowish tint
- Slower nail growth than usual – Nails may become thinner over time, feeling weak or soft
- Small pieces of torn skin around the nail edges, leading to discomfort or pain
