The Head of Finance plays a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of the organisation and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management. This role is responsible for managing financial planning, analysis, reporting and accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and driving financial performance.

Your responsibilities and the qualities we're looking for.

  • Financial Planning and Analysis:
    • Lead the development and implementation of financial plans, budgets and forecasts.
    • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial performance and market trends.
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance:
    • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
    • Oversee compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements and internal controls.
    • Manage relationships with auditors, regulators and other stakeholders.
  • Accounting and Controls:
    • Supervise the accounting team in maintaining accurate and complete financial records.
    • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
    • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Treasury and Cash Management:
    • Optimise cash flow management, including monitoring cash balances and forecasting cash needs.
    • Manage banking relationships and treasury activities, including cash investments, debt financing and foreign exchange transactions.
    • Implement strategies to mitigate financial risks and optimize liquidity.
  • Financial Operations:
    • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions to ensure timely and accurate processing.
    • Streamline financial processes and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Identify opportunities for automation and technology solutions to enhance financial operations.
  • Payroll Management:
    • Lead financial oversight of the outsourced payroll function, coordinating with HR and the payroll provider to ensure accurate payroll processing, strong internal controls, timely reporting, and reconciliation to financial records.
  • Strategic Planning and Decision Support:
    • Collaborate with senior management to develop strategic initiatives and business plans.
    • Provide financial insights and analysis to support investment decisions and capital allocation strategies.
    • Evaluate the financial impact of potential mergers, acquisitions and other strategic initiatives.

You will need to meet these requirements to be eligible for the position.

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field.
  • Proven experience (5 years min) in a senior finance role, with demonstrated leadership and strategic thinking.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing financial planning, analysis and reporting processes.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and software, with the ability to leverage technology to drive efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong leadership and management capabilities with the ability to mentor and develop a high -performing finance team.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
